Our goal is to promote skipping as a healthy, fun activity. We are dedicated to developing excellence in this sport, teamwork and participating in competition, self discipline, cooperation, developing team spirit, positive youth development, and most of all have fun!

We are a not for profit organization dedicated to the sport of jump roping. We have fun in friendly competitions with other local teams. The Rhythm Ropers are members of the CRSF (Canadian Rope Skipping Federation) and the BC Skipping Association.

We are comprised of skippers, boys, girls and adults from ages 9 to masters' class. The Rhythm Ropers Jump Rope for Heart team was started in 1985. We are located in the beautiful Heritage city, Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. We have only started on the road to competitive skipping in 1997. Our team is very active as a Heart and Stroke Foundation Ambassador for the Jump Rope for Heart program. We do approximately 15 school shows and numerous workshops each year. The head coach is Brenda Reid, assisted by coaches Sandy Nixon, Nancy Ferguson, Christine Henderson and Sarah Reid.

We practice two to three times a week as well as pracitce at home and gymnastic training. Tryouts for the team are held during the year and are open to the community in the summer months.

We promote the sport of jump rope through competitions, workshops, camps, demonstrations and our web page.

Having fun, learning new tricks and meeting others with similar interests is what it is all about!

Our Performances

Our performances are choreographed to new and old music. We perform a Variety of skipping from single ropefree style, double Dutch and large group numbers.

We have a high energy entertaining shows!

As a heart and stroke skipping team there is no cost to bring us to your school. We can show the students tricks and tips to use in their Jump off. Our show is approximately 35 to 45 minutes in length. We bring our own sound system and music, all you have to provide is a gym floor and an audience. The skippers will talk about the Heart and Stroke foundation, how you can become a demo team and where the money goes that you raise during your jump off. We are available to do a workshop at your school so you can start your own skipping club. We try to book as many schools in one area for the same day. So if you know of other schools in your area participating in a jump off let them know about us.

As a competitive team we are available for entertainment at dinner parties, conventions and half time entertainment. We will show you a combination of gymnastic and rope skipping skills. We have an entertaining, high impact show!

Both teams have the same goal, to promote the sport of skipping, healthy and fun activity, and building of self-esteem. Many of our skippers are on both teams.
